spacelab_ had the pleasure of attending the Design for Planet festival where over 100 experts from diverse disciplines of design, supply chains, energy, food waste, biodiversity and materials came together to help create ways out of the climate crisis. These are our 10 highlights and key takeaways from the event: 1- Knowledge sharing, procurement and framework are key for SME 2- Design to enhance, extend and enable our lives rather than distract it. 3- Treat ‘consumers as participants’ 4- Design with communities. To do: flat level workshop, Active listening, creating safe space, building agency - participatory infrastructure within institution 5- Moving from protest to prototype! 6- Perhaps it’s time to appreciate architecture of ‘what work’ (function) over ‘the shininess or being on the front page’ (form) 7- Sharing economy instead of ownership 8- ‘Every 10 years put down your tools and pick up a new one’ 9- ‘Effective over efficient’ 10- ‘Nature doesn’t have a design problem, people do’
